Thoughts on the overall election

I think history will view this election as one of the most futile efforts by both parties simultaneously. The Republicans were masterful in 2000 as the Dems squandered a perfect chance, the Dems masterful in 92 and 96 as the Republicans imploded. This race, so far, strikes me as both parties being totally unable to send a cohesive message that strikes the nerve of the general public. IMO, that’s why we have so much rancor and rhetoric in this race, individuals feel the need to help their candidates as both candidates seem to be begging for help. Throw in the effect of allowing nearly as much financing in 527’s as the candidates and it makes the campaigns seem even more disorganized and disjointed.

And I don’t think it’s going to get any better before it’s over.
