The McGreevey Scandal

N.J. Governor: I’m Gay and I Quit

TRENTON, N.J. Gov. James E. McGreevey announced Thursday that he is a gay man who had an adulterous relationship and, therefore, will resign his office on Nov. 15.

This has all the makings of a really bad made-for-tv movie. We’ve got an ex-wife, a current wife, three kids, a politician being investigated for misappropriation of funds, and in the meantime decides to come out of the closet on national tv due to his gay lover being outed for receiving $110k for a job he never performed and was never qualified to have. The happy ending? “My truth is that I am a gay American,” McGreevey said during a press conference, with his wife by his side and his parents behind him.

He’s proud to be an American and his family apparently supports his decision.

Okey dokey.
