US getting redder?

I was browsing my RSS reader and came accross this article on Polipundit. They cite an article by Robert Novak where he cites research by Polidata that shows that changing demographics will likely lead to Red states picking up six electoral votes at the expense of blue states, making it harder for the Democrats to make any gains in the 2010 elections. You can pay Polidata to send you their research.
Or, you could have gotten it here for free. I made this very same observation a while back. I bet by 2010, it will be more than six votes.
Here’s a refresher:
Each state is listed with their 1990-2000 growth percentage ( red is over 10%, green is 5% to 10%, pale green is 0% to 5%) and how they voted in the 2004 Presidential race:

Interesting comments but they are flawed.America isn’t getting redder, they haven’t changed much in the last 20 years with the exception of 9/11 fallout which created more hawks.
The real story is how Hollywood hijacked the Democratic Party. That’s where they get their money and they have to keep their money donating constituants happy. Michael Moore has more influence in the Democratic Party than Joe Lieberman. There no longer is room in the Democratic Party for Moderates or Conservatives.
The voter registration records indicate there are far more Democrats than Republicans. The reason for the red vs blue issue is that most people are Moderate. There are more Liberals than Conservatives. So how is it possible the Republicans continue to win elections?
Simple, they get the Moderate vote. Most people don’t want abortion as a means of birth control but we all know someone close to us who had one. We have a major problem with the anti-religion crowd. A nativity scene or the 10 commandments aren’t offensive to us in the middle. attacks on them however make us vote against those who do harm to our deeply rooted beleifs.
Most people don’t own guns but if they want one they should have that right.
As far as the Military goes, when it’s time for the lamb and the lion to lay together in green pastures, make damn sure you’re the lion.
Welfare should help people get on their feet. It should be a hand up not a hand out. Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you fed him for life.
Schools are not the place to teach 2nd grades about homosexual lifestyles or to hand out condoms to 6th graders.
The country isn’t getting redder, the Democratic party is just getting bluer. It’s a damn shame we are now a country with 1 National Party and a fringe group Party that was once proud. If you look at the map you see the Blue folks are in 8 cities and that’s all. Boston, New York, Newark, Chicago, Detroit,Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles. That’s all that’s left of the once proud Democratic Party. Democrats didn’t leave their party, their party left them.
That is why it looks as though the country is getting redder. It’s the same it has been for at least 20 years.
Go ask Sam Nunn or Zell Miller if you doubt me.
