Me Eat Less Cookies!

This is absurd:
This is absurd. This is stupid beyond belief. The Cookie Monster is cutting back on cookies? Hey Sesame Street, you’re missing the whole point by a mile. Not even that close.
Try this on for size. Have the Cookie Monster eat MORE cookies. Sound crazy? Huh? Does it?
I have a two year old. He LOVES cookies. What example am I going to show him of what happens to little boys that eat too many cookies? Huh? Huh? Tell me! Until now, I could point at the tv, and there would be the Cookie Monster devouring a plate full of cookies, as my boy does. Used to, I could point at the Cookie Monster and ask the baby boy if he wanted to turn blue and hairy just like the Cookie Monster.
Not now.
In their struggle to be only concerned with being politically correct, they have lost their common sense. Kids won’t see what happens when you abuse cookies and they’ll just keep eating them.
Absurd.
They sent me to Dr. Rosemarie T. Truglio, the show’s vice president of research and education.
Rosemarie needs to spend more time with children obvsiously. She DOES NOT need to be influencing them. I will not allow my boy to watch Sesame Street any more. We’ll watch something more realistic, like Spongebob Squarepants.

I think the PC lunatics are one step away from insanity.
As a father of 8, grandfather of 4 with 2 more on the way this year and hopefully many, many more, the PC crowd is really missing the point.
Cookie Monster should not confuse the children with the sometimes jargon. What really needs to be addressed is the TYPE of cookies he is devouring.
Cookies are a staple in our very extended family. Home made, nutricious cookies that are not only good for the kids but also are a blast to make together. My wife generally gives me the “I’ll kill you if you don’t clean the mess routine but the quality time spent with my loved ones is priceless.
There are so many recipies for nutricious, good tasting cookies it isn’t funny. Yes we always destroy the kitchen but so what. Some kids never grow up.
The obesity problem comes from foods that are harmful to children when eaten in excess. Kids will eat as many cookies as possible, generally with milk. The trick to the perceived problem is to make cookies kids can eat in excess that actually help their health and not create obesity problems.
Sweetners come in a variety of forms. The most common is processed sugar which can be troublesome if consumed in excess. Kids will consume cookies in excess. Given that fact, why not make cookies they love that actually improve their health? Our all time favorites (this big kid included) are the ever popular Oatmeal raisin cookies. All the ingrediants we use actually improve the childs health.
We do not use sugar as a sweetner, rather we use molasas instead. The oatmeal and the raisins are always good in a diet and so are the occasional nuts we put in the batter. All those things are good for growning children, even the 47+ year old ones. They do not promote obesity especially when we use unbleached flour.
Cookie Monster needs to have a show where he attempts to consume the type cookies that are obviously bad for children, spit them out and eagerly eat the ones that are good for him health wise and make it clear why. Telling children some cookies are bad even if they taste good but the ones that taste way better that are good for him, therefore the children. They will tell Mom not to but the icky cookies and get the good ones or preferably spend quality bonding time making them with their parents or older siblings.
Kids are going to eat cookies just like we older kids. The trick is to teach the difference in a manner they understand. There is very few snacks that are really good taysting and good for you, especially when consumed with milk.
Sesame Street would be doing a better service to their audience to have cookie monster make this point very clear and showing how to make them with ingrediants that are beneficial to the health and well being of all.
PC folks need to do a better job here and it doesn’t diminish, alter or otherwise change the role of one of the most loved characters on the show. If Cookie Monster makes informed, intellegent decisions on the type of cookies he eats and why, it would surely provoke the children to do the same, and thats what the show is designed for. Teaching children right from wrong, including what cookies to eat.
