Eric Rudolph: Just another Murderer

Posted by Moonage on 14 Apr 2005 | Tagged as: Opinions, People

During a two-year series of bombings in the Deep South, Eric Rudolph considered himself a warrior against abortion, which he calls murder, and a government that permits it.

A sometimes-rambling, sometimes-reflective 11-page manifesto released by Rudolph’s attorneys Wednesday soon after he entered his last guilty plea in the bombings gave the most detailed look yet into the mind of the former Army explosives expert who killed two people and injured more than 120 others.

Rudolph pleaded guilty in federal court to the deadly 1996 Olympic park bombing in Atlanta and attacks at two abortion clinics and a gay nightclub.

OK, help me here Eric.  This is your chance.  In order to convince the world that murder is bad, you murder gay people ( when was the last time a gay person had an abortion? ), and, murder people at an athletic event ( when was the last time someone had an abortion because of sports? )

Now, I’m going to clue Eric in on how I think most people feel about this ( at least the ones I’ve discussed this with ):

He’s as guilty as the people he’s pointing his finger at.  In order to shut down abortion clinics he could cut their electricity off.  Rather than stopping the process, he chose to murder and mame people.  Now, the chance Eric Rudolph got that those kids enjoying the Olympics and seeking medical care did not is he got to make his case in front of a judge and potential jury.  He chose not to.  At this time, based on his admission of killing , he just needs killin.

Now, his former sister-in-law has a different take:

Deborah Rudolph, Rudolph’s former sister-in-law whom he criticized in the statement, noted the irony of Rudolph’s plea deal putting him in custody of a government he hates.

"Knowing that he’s living under government control for the rest of his life, I think that’s worse to him than death," she said from her home in Nashville, Tenn.

I’m not going to disagree with her.  But, I’m not concerned with what Eric Rudolph thinks or feels.  He thinks it’s OK to simply kill anyone he disagrees with.  That means he’s a threat to society, of which I belong.  I don’t care if he’s uncomfortable or thinks being in prison is worse than death, he’s still a threat to me and my family.  He just needs to be permanently removed from society.  I’m no fan of abortion, but, I do know it’s bad to kill innocent people.  Although he’s made the loudest complaints about abortions, he’s also attacked gays.  So, don’t give me the argument that I’m being hypocritical here.  He got his chance to defend himself, he didn’t give anyone else that same chance.  He’s nothing more than a coward and a murderer.  He’s had his chance at life.  He just needs killin now.
