Hillary’s Problem
Posted by Moonage on 19 Apr 2005 | Tagged as: 2008 Presidential Race
The 2008 race is off and running. Hillary Clinton, who constantly denies she is running for President, has formed
friendsofhilary.com. She sells t-shirts and has lots of pictures of her as well as positions all over it. The headline on her page right now is:
Hillary Speaks to Minnesota Democrats
Not too far down the page is another speaking headline:
Hillary Celebrates Opening of Clinton Presidential Library
And then:
Hillary Stands Up for National Guard and Reserves
That speech was at Georgetown University. What you don’t see is anything featuring her speaking in New York. She’s nationwide.
She’s running for president.
She’s fair game.
She’s the worst candidate the Democrats can choose. Here’s some reasons why:

At this point in time, Hillary should be thumping Rudy. He’s not doing anything public. Quick quiz, what does Rudy do for a living right now? He’s a popular but unknown quantity. Hillary’s done all kinds of things like swerving to the middle and making all kinds of fell-good appearances. Rudy hasn’t done anything for a year. She should be 20 points ahead of Rudy by this time in even the most Republican survey you can find. John McCain’s been visible. But, for the most part, it’s been in negative ways. Hillary should be thumping McCain even worse than Rudy because although McCain appeals to a small part of the Republicans, Hillary has thrown herself unto the masses. She should be thumping McCain. But, she’s not.
Why do I think she’s not thumping McCain or Giuliani? Here’s a visual of why:
That pic just kinda sums up my total gut feeling about Hillary. She’s an opportunist, not a true politician. Her husband would have made that military guy feel good about getting his pic taken with him, whether he liked the President or not. I enjoyed getting my pic taken with Bill Clinton, and I didn’t like him at all as a President. Hillary was in the pic as well. She was a sidebar. As an opportunist, she was in it. As a politician, she didn’t sell herself. That’s her bottom line problem IMO. Sure, she got the pic she wanted, her being patriotic by supporting the troops. But, she didn’t sell herself to the guy she was using for the pic. It bit her because of that. When she does run, just multiply that pic a million times and you’ll understand why I think she’ll dominate the news, she’ll dominate the media, and, she’ll dominate fundraising. But, she won’t win the election. Her husband understood the value of selling himself to each individual person. Dubya’s not nearly as adept as Bill was. But then again, outside of Reagan, I doubt anyone was. Hillary’s been in politics long enough to have gotten that message and failed. She needs to be an ambassador or the like. She’ll never get too far relying on her purely political skills.
And, notice, I was able to do this entire critique without even mentioning the "vast right wing conspiracy" that will be solidified and motivated if she does run.
