Dissin Democracy in Cuba

I swear, I will probably start a Cynthia McKinney category before too long.  She’s just too much.

On May 10, 2005, Congress passed House Resolution 193 which stated:

Resolved, That the House of Representatives–

     (1) extends its support and solidarity to the orga-
nizers and participants of the historic meeting of the As-
sembly to Promote the Civil Society in Cuba on May 20,
2005, in Havana;
     (2) urges the international community to support
the Assembly’s mission to bring democracy to Cuba;
     (3) urges the Administration and international com-
munity to actively oppose any attempts by the Castro re-
gime to repress or punish the organizers and partici-
pants of the Assembly; and
     (4) shares the pro-democracy ideals of the Assembly
to Promote the Civil Society in Cuba and believes that
this Assembly and others will hasten the day of freedom
and democracy for the people of Cuba.
Attest:

This bill was purely symbolic in supporting the pro-democracy factions in Cuba.  That’s all it did.  It passed the House 392-22.  Not only did most all of the Republicans support it, most all of the Democrats did as well.  Except:

Nay MI-14 Rep. Conyers, John [D]
Nay CA-17 Rep. Farr, Sam [D]
Nay NY-22 Rep. Hinchey, Maurice [D]
Nay OH-11 Rep. Jones, Stephanie [D]
Nay MI-13 Rep. Kilpatrick, Carolyn [D]
Nay OH-10 Rep. Kucinich, Dennis [D]
Nay CA-09 Rep. Lee, Barbara [D]
Nay WA-07 Rep. McDermott, James [D]
Nay GA-04 Rep. McKinney, Cynthia [D]
Nay NY-06 Rep. Meeks, Gregory [D]
Nay CA-07 Rep. Miller, George [D]
Nay MA-01 Rep. Olver, John [D]
Nay TX-14 Rep. Paul, Ronald [R]
Nay NJ-10 Rep. Payne, Donald [D]
Nay NY-15 Rep. Rangel, Charles [D]
Nay NY-16 Rep. Serrano, Jose [D]
Nay CA-13 Rep. Stark, Fortney [D]
Nay NY-10 Rep. Towns, Edolphus [D]
Nay NM-03 Rep. Udall, Tom [D]
Nay NY-12 Rep. Velazquez, Nydia [D]
Nay CA-35 Rep. Waters, Maxine [D]
Nay CA-06 Rep. Woolsey, Lynn [D]

So far, in just one week, Cynthia McKinney has shown support for gangsters and a communist despot who has driven the once bustling Havanna into third-world status.  It probably wouldn’t even have looked all that bad but the sponsor of the bill was Mario Diaz-Balart.  A Cuban-American.

What the hell are you people who voted for her thinking?  I am BEGGING for someone to explain to me why they voted for her.

( Thanks fivefathom! )
