Bob Geldof gets it right

No, not because of the exposure of Live-8.  No, not because of his taunting G-8 leaders to give the African leaders a free ride. But, he nailed it once again for this comment:

Hundreds of black-clad anarchists and other protesters fought with police in Edinburgh on Monday, leaving 20 police and demonstrators slightly injured. About 100 people were arrested and to appear in court Tuesday.

The clash "was just stupid and unnecessary and to be condemned," Geldof said. "We should look at what happens in Africa and what happens to the poor, the extreme violence visited upon them by poverty."

Protests continued throughout Scotland on Tuesday.

He’s not commenting on people that care, he’s commenting on pure anarchists intent on nothing but disrupting anything they can.  The G-8 is in the political mood to forgive those debts.  They have already forgiven $40 billion, that’s a sign they’re in the mood.  All these people are doing is making what used to appear ugly, appear ugly again.  It wasn’t Geldof and Bono encouraging violence that got the G-8’s attention, it was their persistant and cool-headed arguments that did the trick.  These idiot anarchists are either too stupid to figure that out, or, more aptly IMO, don’t care, they just wanna be anarchists.   Got news for that particular bunch, hating everything is easy and boring.  Caring about something and getting something done is a real fight.
