Roberts gets Kaused

In the entire debate, no one I have seen yet has summed up the Roberts confirmation process better than Mickey Kaus of Slate.  He’s smart enough that he knows to keep his comments terse and condensed, and deliver the whole package in a very brief message.  I don’t think I have priviledge to reprint the entire thing, so I’m going to hit the best point in even more brief synopsis:

  1. Supreme Court nominee John Roberts appears to drive a Chrysler PT Cruiser. This may be the scariest thing I’ve heard about him.

That’s about as ugly as this thing’s going to get.  This is how embarassing it’s gotten:

Of today’s conversation, Senator Durbin said, "It was a positive meeting." He said he would go into the committee hearings "with an open mind," but that the nominee had to be far more candid than he was two years ago, when his vagueness prompted Mr. Durbin to oppose him.

As it was also noted in blogdom, now that it’s obvious the Roberts’ confirmation is over, it’s time for the media to get back to the Plame affair.
