NCAA Political Correctness not good enough

As was noted in a previous comment, mascots aren’t the only thing that
"slander" native American Indians. Their names have been stolen outright
by some US colleges. These colleges, along with the others that have
stolen their heritage by using nicknames, should be sanctioned and barred by the
NCAA as well. Here’s a list of some of the egregious offenders:
|
Auburn |
|
Alabama |
Appalachian State
North Carolina
South Carolina
Western Carolina
East Carolina
North Carolina ATT
North Carolina Central
North Carolina State
North Carolina Wesleyan
North Carolina at Asheville
North Carolina at Chapel Hill
North Carolina at Charlotte
North Carolina at Pembroke
North Carolina at Wilmington
South Carolina State
South Dakota
North Dakota
Delaware
Hawaii
Illinois
Iowa
Kansas
Miami of Ohio
Miami ( Florida )
Missouri
Virginia
West Virginia
Wisconsin
Etc….
You get the picture. If the NCAA is worried sick over offending some
Indians by referencing them during ball games, then they should go all out and
ban ALL references to Native Americans. Then those who are protesting will
get what they want and the American Indian legacy and heritage will be totally
forgotten forever.

Here is a thought that will certainly jerk a knot in the NCAA’s collective asses. A majority of States do not care for the NCAA one bit, especially the SEC, ACC, Big East, Big Ten, Sun Belt, and Conference USA. Imagine a pullout of those states to pursue their own TV rights just the same as Notre Dame has. Think the bitchin about mascots will still be a priority? Why can a student go to college and major in music or art but not sports? How much do musicians and artists make compared to football, baseball or basketball players? Isn’t the sole purpose of a college education to prepare students for employment after graduation? It is high time someone gets the stones to tell the NCAA to pound sand, leave and go it alone. They would get way more TV money because noone cares about DivisionIII sports as far as revenue generating goes. Cash is king in this world and it is high time someone explain that to the teachers union in a manner they will never misunderstand.
