Elizabeth Edwards on Dubya

From
Elizabeth Edwards:
"The president’s cavalier dismissal of Cindy Sheehan is emblematic of a
greater problem. This is a mother who raised her son to love his country
enough to serve. … And when the worst does happen, when the world comes
crashing down and she puts the boy she bore, the boy she taught, the boy she
loved in the ground, what does that government say to her? It says we’ll do
the talking; we don’t need to hear from you," Edwards wrote.
What does Elizabeth expect? Bush to hold her hand and give her a kiss
on the cheek?

For what it’s worth, this is the picture that came from the
Sheehans’ page,
dated June 18, 2004. The picture has since been removed, but still is
floating around in the Google cache. Since it’s not too clear, that is the
President of the United States, George W. Bush, holding Cindy Sheehan’s hand and
giving her a kiss on the cheek. The reason he made a point to hold her
hand and give her a kiss was not to ask for her vote, it was because she had
lost her son. Her world had come crashing down and she put the boy she
bore, the boy she taught, the boy she loved in the ground. Bush did
all he could do. He met her, he held her hand, and gave her a gentle kiss.
Now, Elizabeth, once again, what would you have him do?
And, are you going to apologize for the insinuations you made that are so
grossly wrong?
I’m not holding my breath.
