Landrieu predicts thousands dead

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (Reuters) - U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu said on Thursday thousands had died after Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans and the Gulf Coast.

"We understand there are thousands of dead people," the Democratic senator from Louisiana said at a news conference in Baton Rouge.

I’m not going to comment on how accurate I think this is, now.  But, I’m going to hope it’s a lot less.
