The Smartest Kid in New Orleans

Eighteen-year-old Jabbor Gibson jumped aboard the bus as it sat abandoned on a street in New Orleans and took control.

"I just took the bus and drove all the way here…seven hours straight,’ Gibson admitted. "I hadn’t ever drove a bus."

The teen packed it full of complete strangers and drove to Houston. He beat thousands of evacuees slated to arrive there.

"It’s better than being in New Orleans," said fellow passenger Albert McClaud, "we want to be somewhere where we’re safe."

"I dont care if I get blamed for it ," Gibson said, "as long as I saved my people."

Blamed hell!  He NEEDS to be Mayor of New Orleans.  Right now.

    This young man is a fine example of how we hope people in general would act in a crisis situation.

    Although technically considered stolen, I firmly beleive that the use of this abandoned bus was actually a legal act. It was not done for any reason but to bring desperate people to safety.

    Worst case scenario is an unauthorized use beef which IMO would be foolish for the City of New Orleans to prosecute and impossible to get a conviction in a jury trial.

    There are approximately 100 people in the safety of the Astrodome including an 8 day old baby thanks to this kid. Maybe they should send him back with the bus for another load of refugees. That would make far more sense than to prosecute this fine young man.
