Kanye West made an ass out himself last night. Nothing new about that, a rapper acting bad. But, he commented on a very contentious topic going around:
Some posts nail a topic so perfectly there is no sense in expanding or trying to reword it. You have GOT to read this one.
- In summary, Bush called the Governor August 28th asking for a mandatory evacuation of New Orleans. As stated clearly in the Louisiana evacuation plans: "School and municipal buses, government-owned vehicles and vehicles provided by volunteer agencies may be used to provide transportation for individuals who lack transportation and require assistance."
- As shown, those instructions obviously were not followed.
- Roy Nagin, who refused to follow written procedure, immediately blamed FEMA.
Bottom line, if Nagin had done what he was supposed to have done, follow instructions, then all we would be dealing with is getting some water out of New Orleans instead of what we have seen this week.
Now, Kanye, George W. Bush, by calling and telling the Governor to evacuate New Orleans did more to save the black people than anything anyone else did. Besides being 100% wrong, you imposed your opinion on others who didn’t agree with it, and, probably cost the cause you were appearing for a lot of donations. You owe Bush an apology, you owe your fellow performers an apology, and you owe the people who would have benefitted from the lost donations an apology. Be a big man Kanye, be the first rapper to admit you’re wrong about something and publicly apologize in a rap song. It would be the first sincere rap song in a LONG time.
Should I hold my breath?
