2006 Budget Reconcilliation Act

Yesterday Congress voted on the US Budget for the next fiscal year. This one was a tough pill to swallow as Bush had ordered a lot of money be cut from the budget. These cuts are pretty much across the board. It affects Medicaid, Social Security, Homeland Security, NASA, you name it, it’s probably got a cut in it. Now, the primary reason for these cuts is SOME people have complained that Bush’s spending has been out of control, reckless, bankrupting our youth, etc..
Nancy Pelosi’s comments have been persistent:
America can do better than irresponsible spending and trade policies that are jeopardizing our economic security and placing our economic future in the hands of foreign countries," she said.
Apparently Bush did something I would never have done. He listened to Pelosi et al. So, starting about six months ago, Bush started telling Congress to clamp down on the waste. So, they apparently decided to do so. Yesterday, they voted on the result of Pelosi’s suggestions. Final result?
Every single Democrat voted against it. Every single one. 200-0. Not one single Democrat felt compelled to do what it was they have complained about for five years. Not one. Not a single one. Not even Nancy Pelosi.
You see, Bush cut the budget the wrong way according to every single Democrat. Every single one. The only one who didn’t vote against it just didn’t vote.
Anyone want to do the math to figure out the odds of every single member of a party having the exact same problems with a budget that did what they demanded and contained several hundred pages of items?
Now, you gotta remember these are the very same people complaining about Bush dividing the country as well. I don’t want to hear a single peep from any of them complaining about Bush’s spending. Even if it’s the wrong way according to them.
