bullshit protector

Sent to me by a friend via email:

Bill Moyer, 73, wears a “Bullshit Protector” flap over his ear while Senator Ted Kennedy addresses the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Now, I haven’t done extensive research into whether this email is legit or not. But, being as it’s commonly referenced on the net as real, I’ll buy it that it is. What’s more, there is nothing terribly unusual about this pic as ANYONE can have a BS protector, deflector, or whatever by going to http://www.wiseass.org/bullshit.html and downloading the very simple PDF illustration so you can cut out and make your own.

Being as this thing easily cuts all political ways, I’ve filed this under humor.

Ever hear of Snopes.com? They are a clearinghouse for confirming or refuting urban myths and internet email stories.

This story has been covered there since October 2005

    http://www.snopes.com/photos/politics/earflap.asp

The picture is real, as is the identity of 73 year old Bill Moyers. But he was not listening to Ted Kennedy. This picture was taken on August 22, 2005 as George W. Bush addressed the VFW’s 106th convention, held in Salt Lake City, Utah.

This email is just a pathetic attempt to shift an embarrassing story away from Bu$h and onto a convenient Democratic punching bag.

Ever hear of keeping something in context? I didn’t quote this under urban legends or conspiracy theories, I posted it under HUMOR. As I state CLEARLY, I don’t care who the speaker was. So, therefore, I never cared to check the context. I thought the BS protector was FUNNY. Get it? The post is about the ear flap, not the speaker. I just quoted the email because that’s where I got the pic from. The ear flap is real. Snopes confirms that. The rest I could care less then, and even less now. Thank you for pointing out the true story behind the BS protector. However, as is obvious, the BS protector doesn’t work worth a flip since all your rhetoric flew right by it.

Moonage, Keith is right and you are wrong. You said “Now, I haven’t done extensive research into whether this email is legit or not. But, being as it’s commonly referenced on the net as real, I’ll buy it that it is”. So I’m left with the 2 possibilities, either you are the worst researcher ever, or relies that most people are too lazy to go find out for themselves. Posting incorrect information makes you wrong no matter how you look at it.

It’s best to admit when you’re wrong, sometimes it’s the only way to be right.

Not sure why you guys are so hung up on this. As I have now stated twice, I said I made no claim to its validity, and, I don’t care. I thought the ear flap was funny. Now, as hard as you guys can try to ruin it by worrying yourselves sick over the politics of this thing, I’m not going to let you do it. It’s still funny. And, I still don’t care why it was worn in that one particular picture.

And, for what it’s worth, all I said is this thing is real. The “thing” is the ear flap. Get it? It’s real. It does exist. You can make one for your very own. Snopes didn’t say it didn’t exist. Snopes said this real thing, the ear flap, was worn for a different reason than the email. That does not prove that the ear flap, the real thing, doesn’t exist. You guys are completely misreading the post because you can’t get past the politics of it. The other 25,000 or so that have read this post over the last few years don’t seem to have that problem.

Now, I will admit I’m wrong when it is apparent that I am. But, when people misinterpret something whether accidentally or intentionally, it doesn’t prove anything.

Can’t liberals just laugh at something that could be worn anywhere and will
co-ordinate with any wardrobe? When you have to explain a joke to a liberal
you know the joke is a success! Be the laugh of the party! Wear it at all times
and you’ll be content to know that you’ll never be subjected to B.S. again, not even your own!!! The pain in your head (or heinie) will subside when you stop looking for VAST conspiracies or when you stop pretending to think.
