Tim Robbins IS Big Brother?

Tim Robbins joined the throng of Hollywood type that feels there’s a conspiracy behind every corner.
Yesterday Tim Robbins blasted President George W. Bush’s invasion of Iraq and challenged the American media to stand up and criticize their leader. The 47-year-old made his outspoken comments at a press conference promoting his stage adaptation of George Orwell’s classic book 1984 in Atlanta, Georgia, and he drew comparisons between the Republican administration and the prophetic novel.
He said, “We have right now a media that is willfully ignoring the high crimes and misdemeanors of the President of the United States. Clinton lied about a blowjob and got impeached by the media and Congress. (Bush) got us into (the Iraq) war based on lies that he knew were lies … His war has recruited more al Qaeda members than Osama Bin Laden could ever have dreamed for … yet no one in the media is calling for impeachment.“
Now, here’s the conundrum that I think is so ironic. Robbins ranted while promoting his stage adaptation of George Orwell’s 1984. Now, think about it. The key element to 1984 was the government’s ability to re-write history as they saw fit. In that very short blurb, Robbins states:
- “(Bush) got us into (the Iraq) war…” - Our conflict with Iraq actually began in 1993, eight years BEFORE Bush became president.
- “based on lies that he knew were lies ..” - Dan Rather repeatedly accused Bush of those lies Robbins is referring to, what pretty led to Rather’s retirement was his inability to find one shred of evidence that proved his claim.
- “His war has recruited more al Qaeda members than Osama Bin Laden could ever have dreamed for …” - Robbins knows this as a fact? How many attacks on US assets outside of Iraq have been credited to Al Qaeda since the conflict in Iraq got hot? What is the actual evidence Robbins has that Al Qaeda has recruited more members?
- “ yet no one in the media is calling for impeachment.” - If you google “Impeach the president”, you get 31,000+ hits. If you google “impeach Bush”, you get 151,000 hits. Dan Rather repeatedly implied Bush needed to be impeached. And, of course, the house Democrats have tried approximately 30 something times to impeach Bush. The last one got some airplay as a REPUBLICAN told them to go ahead and vote on it and a DEMOCRAT killed the vote.
So, it looks to me like Robbins is following the lead of his work and trying to change history to meet his needs. That is SO Big Brother. And, is it any coincidence that he made this tirade pretty much to the day Neil Young released his attack on Bush, Impeach the President?
