No more dead eel tossing

This is pathetic:

For more than 30 years, crowds have flocked to the small English fishing village of Lyme Regis to watch an annual tradition two teams of fishermen standing on wooden platforms as human bowling pins, hurling a dead giant eel at each other. But the ritual was abruptly abandoned after an animal rights activist threatened to draw negative publicity to the latest tournament, organizers said Saturday.

It disgusts me how these people just rolled over and played dead because of some whiny animal rights activist who failed to consider the fact the eel was already deceased and could care absolutely less about being that way.  It’s not like they were killing the eel, they were just having some fun and raising money for the local coast guard who, get this, are expected to protect the endangered species the idiot animal rights activist has now endangered even more because the coast guard won’t have as much money to work with.  If anything, these people should have welcomed the opportunity to make this a cause celebre for all the people like me tired of idiot animal rights activists who go too far and knee-jerk react to everything that just doesn’t look quite right in their own myopic judgment.
