Mayor Tom Miller of Franklin Tennessee decided to cave into the political correctness du jour of last year and banned all displays of the Confederate Flag in Franklin, during, get this, the annual Civil War Commemoration.
That’s right, the Confederates won’t even be allowed to fly their flag during this event. I’m sure the kids will all wonder why the Union soldiers ran around shooting themselves. The parents of course, will have to take the kids home and pull up Wiki or Moonage Webdream and tell the kids that the South was disenchanted and felt they had lost their rights in the government so they decided to form their own government so they could have their freedoms back. Now, 140 years later, they’ve lost those rights again. However, today, we don’t really have to run around shooting ourselves, we can just vote the idiots out and try again.
What’s that you say? I missed something? Oh yeah, sheez, it seems my little scenariou of Union soldiers running around shooting each other is flawed. Since, the same idiot banned GUNS! So, you’re going to have this battle where a bunch of guys on the same side run around shooting "Bang!" at each other and they fall down. Now, the kids will know that war is fun since everyone has to get along and no one gets hurt.
This is stupidest thing I have seen in 2006 by any government within the US.
Some things in life are meant to offend. War is one of them. The reason we celebrate the battles of the Civil War is not because we think it’s fun and sunshiny, it’s because we don’t want our ancestors to make the same mistake. With the short-sightedness of Mayor Tom Miller, that lesson will die with our generation and some generation down the road won’t know why it happened the first time or how to avoid it. And, most likely, they’ll have absolutely no clue whatsoever what saved the US in its darkest hour.

Finger guns and the Confederates will carry the Nazi flag as to not offend anyone.
