The United Nations has released this advertisement for US consumption:
I really don’t want my kid seeing this advertisement. You think he’d want to play soccer if he saw it? Once again, the United Nations is proving how useless they truly have become. This is just stupid.

That is one of the most disgusting ads I’ve ever seen.
You have to wonder why this ad is targeted at the United States audience, since the U.S. only uses detectable, non-persistent landmines which are mapped when they are laid and then removed after a battle. Anyone wanting to read the U.S. policy on landmines can do so.
The problem isn’t the United States. It’s warring third world countries who use non-detectable, persistent landmines and then don’t get rid of them after battle, leaving them to explode civilians later on.
Further, if small children aren’t allowed to go to an R/PG-13 rated movie, why on earth would anyone think they should watch this ad? I guess people at the United Nations think it’s a fine thing to let the parents deal with the fall out after they have exploded this ad in our living rooms right in front of our children.

I’m speechless (and you know how hard it is to make me shut up). If our Congress isn’t aware of this ad (assuming it is confirmed that it has actually aired somewhere), they should be. It is disgusting.

Best I could verify, it hasn’t actually aired in the US yet. My guess is it will have a hard time in any market.

Based on my earlier career in advertising and my memory of how network continuity worked (censors) I doubt that any station would air it too. However, anyone in Congress who has anything to do with US funding of the United Nations should be made aware of this crap. How dare they?
