100 hours and minimum wage, who’s paying for it?

Yesterday Nancy Pelosi and Congress delivered on her promise to raise the minimum wage.  It will increase over $2.00 over the next two years.  Arguments were made left and right that this will not affect unemployment.  Well, this is what we’ll be doing where I work right now.  We have to budget three years in advance.  We can now expect probably a 10% increase in employee expenses.  Given a fixed budget set by the state and federal governments, that means about 10% of our workforce will lose their jobs.  I don’t see Nancy Pelosi rushing to increase funding for all the programs Congress funds.  So, that’s not rhetoric, that’s a fact.  Since we provide services to indigent elderly people, they will lose their services as well.  This means some of them will wind up in nursing homes, paid for by Medicare.  The cost to the government ( read YOU ), will be more for one single elderly person forced into a nursing home than all the raises we’ll be forced to give here.  Did Nancy Pelosi figure that cost into the budget as well?

Pelosi has also promised fiscal responsibility.  One of the two won’t be met, guaranteed.
