Now, I’m getting pretty tired of Somali pirates attacking everyone. As citizens of Somalia, it is up to Somalia to keep its people in check. Someone pulls a rogue stunt, like the guy flying an airplane from Canada into US airspace, that’s one thing and can be overlooked. But, when it becomes systematic, that’s another thing entirely. Somalia is apparently doing nothing to protect its waters. Now, I do understand that Somalia is basically defenseless to do anything. So, once it again, it’s probably up to the US, or our world-wide banner, the UN, to do it for the rest of the world. If we go after these pirates, I don’t want to hear one peep from the Somali government. Not one. This has been going on too long. I don’t want to hear one peep from the Muslim world about attacking Islam. We have a right to protect our assets and people and the Sunni Somali government is not going to do it for us.
So, here’s your chance Obama, impress me. Alabama has been attacked, what are you going to do it about it besides talk?
Later in the day update: It seems the crew of the Alabama have taken matters into their own hands and regained control of their ship. They are pretty heroic if that is the case.
That however, does not take the onus off of Somalia that pirates are using their ports to attack foreign vessels and those ports need to be secured.
