The CDC, that’s Centers for Disease Control, released a factoid today that some might find interesting:
Now, most people will blame this on obesity and/or smoking. People are fat and smoke in a lot of these other countries as well. I think the main difference is:
I don’t think too many other cultures spend what we do on elective surgery. Whether it’s bigger, firmer boobs, lyposuction, lasix, tummy tucks, whatever, US citizens I think go under the knife much more enthusiastically than any other country on the planet.
I’m OK with that.
