Melissa Clouthier over at Pajamas Media put her finger on something that was bugging me, but I couldn’t figure out why. A day or two ago my wife pointed me to an article where Brit Hume, doing what the rest of the entire planet has been doing since Thanksgiving, put in his two cents worth on Tiger Woods and his issues. You can look at the pics of some of them here, again. But, watching the interview then, something struck me as askew:
It didn’t take long for me to figure it out. Brit Hume, a news person, a member of the media, was encouraging someone to convert to Christianity. Immediately after Hume’s interview, the totally expected occurred, he was publicly flogged by every possible person in media. They couldn’t line up fast enough.
Now, a lot of those same people have had other advice for Tiger:

Anyone want to guess that Tiger probably already figured out bagging porn stars wasn’t doing him much good before someone suggested he needed to stop bagging porn stars? Is there anyone on this planet that didn’t come to the conclusion that Tiger’s activities weren’t doing him any good? Secondly, I think suggesting a divorce is about as low as a person can get. It’s none of their damn business how the Woods’ reconcile their marriage. So, we’ve had people express their opinions on personal matters involving sex, marriage, fidelity, prostitution, pornography, and drug addiction speculation. Then one person apparently went too far. He suggested Tiger needs to do something about his emotional well-being. It may or may not be the best suggestion. However, it involved a topic so taboo with all media that he probably has risked on his own physical safety in metioning it on national media. He suggested Christianity is a good thing. I’m not going to go into all the details of how the media seems to systematically hate Christianity, as I think most people can figure that out rather easily on their own. The reaction has been totally expected:
| The Daily Show With Jon Stewart | Mon – Thurs 11p / 10c |
| The Temple of Hume | |
Nothing but venom.
OK, let’s take it all back one week. Brit Hume goes on tv and gives an interview where he suggests Tiger Woods convert to Islam. What do you think Jon Stewart would have said then?
