Stephanie Tubbs-Jones

Posted by Moonage on 20 Aug 2008 | Tagged as: People

I picked on Ms. Tubbs Jones a lot here.  It was easy.  I don’t think politically two people could be more apart.  However, I was quite shocked and disappointed to hear of her passing.  She was in her prime.  I wish her family condolences.

The root of a cause…. Wall-E

Here’s the story:
Overweight viewers are protesting the film’s depiction of a world ruined by “doughy and lazy folk who drink liquid cupcakes and can’t even really walk.”
In the film, which was fourth at the box office this weekend, Earth has been turned into a trash dump due to the Buy N Large corporation. Humans evacuated [...]

Are all liberal talk show peeps stupid?

Now, I don’t believe that to be necessarily true, I just can’t find one I think is terribly smart.  Today’s example is Thom Hartmann.  In 2005, he tried convincing people that Jimmy Carter tried to prevent the Bush Energy Disasters - 28 years ago.  Now, the reason he states this is because Jimmy gave a [...]

What’s the problem with a sexy mayor?

Posted by Moonage on 19 Jan 2008 | Tagged as: Humor, People, Political Correctness

A lot is being made over this:

I can see why.  SOME folks in Arlington are saying they don’t think this represents their community.  The question I have is, why not?  Mayor Carmen is obviously very fit and healthy.  That folks, is a good thing.  The image I’m getting is folks in Arlington, OR, must be [...]

Banning saggy pants

Posted by Moonage on 11 Dec 2007 | Tagged as: People, The Legal Process

Here’s the headline:
The Atlanta school board voted unanimously Monday night to ban students from wearing sagging pants that expose underwear — a youthful fashion statement deemed to defy classroom decorum.
Here’s the reality:

Although a fashion “statement” for the last twenty years or so, they look stupid.  They make the wearer look even more stupid.  I mean [...]

Help sue the Westboro Church

Posted by Moonage on 27 Oct 2007 | Tagged as: Opinions, People

I have written a few times about Westboro Church.  They are disgusting and abusing religion in the worst possible way.  Well, one father of a slain soldier has had enough.  Albert Snyder, father of Matthew Snyder, is suing Westboro for disrupting his son’s funeral.  I am 100% in support of Albert’s lawsuit.  However, he’s an [...]

Barry Manilow takes a stand

Posted by Moonage on 18 Sep 2007 | Tagged as: Fun with Numbers, Humor, Idiot of the day, Media, People, Polls

Apparently Barry Manilow decided to take a stand.  He will NOT perform on the same stage as Elisabeth Hasselbeck.  Apparently he’s afraid he will suffer the same fate as Rosie.  I find this tactic kind of strange considering he performed before Hasselbeck twice last year.  He apparently stated something to the effect he felt Hasselbeck [...]

Whoopi doesn’t seem to think much of the South

Posted by Moonage on 05 Sep 2007 | Tagged as: Idiot of the day, People, Political Correctness, The Media

Whoopi Goldberg replaced Rosie Odonnell on The View.  Rosie being gone is a good thing because Rosie seemed to rely on rhetoric, stupidity, and generalizations as a basis for most of “the views”.  However, Whoopi’s been known to drop some stupid bombs of her own in the past.  Apparently not much has changed by replacing [...]

Jerry Falwell

Posted by Moonage on 17 May 2007 | Tagged as: Opinions, People

I wasn’t going to say anything about Falwell’s passing, but feel remiss for not. So, I’m gonna tackle it as best I can.
I have never been a fan of Falwell’s. Ever. When I was a small kid and he was on television, I either laughed at how inane he was, or just [...]

Children See, Children Do

In most other countries, they don’t pander to political correctness quite the way we do here. Here is a perfect example of that:

This video was produced by the National Association for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect in Australia. It’s shocking, it’s unnerving. And, it’s accurate.
