Martin Eisenstadt is MSNBC’s Top McCain figure?

Posted by Moonage on 13 Nov 2008 | Tagged as: The Media

This is precious.
Immediately after the election, a few networks ran with the story that McCain campaign workers were claiming that Sarah Palin did not know Africa was a continent, among other ludicrous claims.  Turns out, MSMBC’s source for the claim was one Martin Eisenstadt.
Turns out, Martin Eisenstadt isn’t real.  He’s a fictional character.
Some people were [...]

CNN, all Obama, all the time

Posted by Moonage on 30 Oct 2008 | Tagged as: 2008 Presidential Race, Media, The Media, media bias

Some media are having a difficult time reacting to the charges by McCain that they are completely and unashamedly pushing their candidate.  They have discussed it, they have debated, and some to a small degree, have admitted it.  If one has any doubts at all, all they need to is go to CNN’s front page [...]

Palin expands character attacks?

Posted by Moonage on 06 Oct 2008 | Tagged as: 2008 Presidential Race, The Media

Been out of action for a few days.  Decided to take a mini-vacation.  Came back to this side-splitting “headline”:
Palin expands character attacks
Her “character attacks” are mentioning people Obama has hung out with that just don’t look so good now that he’s running for president.
In my world, a “character attack” is attacking one’s character.  You know, [...]

New York Sun goes absurd: Bring Back Greenberg

Posted by Moonage on 18 Sep 2008 | Tagged as: The Media

I got to read this in the New York Sun:

As America was racing toward the nationalization of what is left of American International Group, we couldn’t help think of Eliot Spitzer. Among all his mistakes, it’s hard to think of one more catastrophic than his decision to force Maurice “Hank” Greenberg out of the leadership of AIG. The picture [...]

Sexist Democrats and Feminists

My friend over at L’Ombre de l’Olivier wrote a very insightful post that merits MSM recognition.  But it won’t happen.  Here’s the meat.  Look at the salaries the three major candidates pay their staff:

Senator
Male Employees
Female Employees
Average Male Salary
Avg Female Salary
Salary Difference (F/M %)

Biden
15
25
$85,144.80
$55,922.33
65.68%

McCain
17
25
$53,259.36
$55,958.67
105.07%

Obama
27
30
$56,298.75
$45,070.09
80.06%

Only one number really merits looking at.  John McCain is the only candidate [...]

Biased and unbiased reporting

Posted by Moonage on 04 Sep 2008 | Tagged as: 2008 Presidential Race, The Media

A lot is being made over the Republicans, me included, complaining how biased the media has been.  I could cite evidence all day and night if I felt like it.  I’ll just cite a couple of quickies from my own observations in no particular order:
Sarah Palin has been scrutinized mercilessly, criticized, and editorialized relentlessly over [...]

Media Double standard?

Posted by Moonage on 03 Sep 2008 | Tagged as: 2008 Presidential Race, The Media

Several in media have been insinuating that there might be a double standard at play regarding Sarah Palin.  Let’s see.  We’ve had a couple of very recent events to compare.  So, let’s do, shall we?

John Edwards ran for President as recently as early this year. He ran on ethics primarily.  He lost but maintained a [...]

Making the best of the New York Times

Received this via email.  It’s so true in so many ways:
A biker is riding his Harley by the zoo, when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion’s cage.  Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the cuff of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, under the eyes of her screaming parents.
The biker jumps [...]

Chuck Hagel to be Obama’s running mate?

Posted by Moonage on 14 Aug 2008 | Tagged as: 2008 Presidential Race, The Media

I’ve seen this a couple of times:
Talk of Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel as a potential running mate for Democratic candidate Barack Obama tends to confound partisans in both parties.
Sure, they’ve been spotted together a few times, but the bottom line is no.  Obama doesn’t appeal to the rational, middle of the road Democrats who would [...]

McCainibal

Posted by Moonage on 04 Mar 2008 | Tagged as: 2008 Presidential Race, The Media

Now, Hollywood has a long history of pretty much hating all things Republican.  They usually don’t know why, and they usually get their facts screwed up, or in some cases, just make stuff up.  However, they come to their conclusion isn’t important.  If in Hollywood, or the media in most cases, you HAVE to hate [...]
