Media and the wrong values

Posted by Moonage on 06 Nov 2008 | Tagged as: 2008 Presidential Race, Media, media bias

It’s easy to trash media.  They screw things up all the time.  Just pick a story, any story, and you’ll find something wrong with it.  For instance, today, Foxnews, which claims to represent the conservative peeps of the US, ran this headline:

Flip-Flopper?

The story headline was a little [...]

Sarah Palin to be McCain’s VP?

Posted by Moonage on 29 Aug 2008 | Tagged as: 2008 Presidential Race

Due to not really being terribly glued to the tv over this election, I gotta admit I have been fairly clueless to guessing VP picks.  The media throws so many names out so fast, then criticizes the names they threw out themselves, and then writes off the names they threw out themselves.  So, the whole [...]

Obama lurches away from his core

Posted by Moonage on 10 Jul 2008 | Tagged as: 2008 Presidential Race, National Security

Barack Obama’s having a rough week.
First, he did the very odd thing of stating very publicly he liked President Bush’s Faith Based Initiative so much he wanted to expand it.  That drew the ire of the Reverend Jesse Jackson:
“See, Barack’s been talking down to black people on this faith-based—,” Jackson says during a break in [...]

McCain - Rice?

Posted by Moonage on 04 Apr 2008 | Tagged as: 2008 Presidential Race, Polls

Man, there is nothing more I’d love to see this fall than a McCain/Rice ticket.  Talk about ending this race mucho prompto?  Think ahout it.

Condi would, to say the least, neuter the race issue that so far is exclusive domain of Obama.  It’s there, for sure, and will be a factor in November.  However, Hillary [...]

Mitt’s Out

Posted by Moonage on 07 Feb 2008 | Tagged as: 2008 Presidential Race

Mitt Romney is dropping out today.  I really didn’t think he would.  He is technically “suspending” his campaign, which means he’ll hang on to his delegates in order to broker them at the convention.  That means to me he plans on being involved in a future administration.  Possibly, I would think, positioning himself as the [...]

The Not Enough election

Posted by Moonage on 01 Feb 2008 | Tagged as: 2008 Presidential Race, Media, The Media

I went off a while back on Jesse Jackson.  He seemed to think Barack Obama wasn’t black enough.  Then of course, Hillary’s had some issues garnering every single female vote because she’s not womanly enough.  Once Barack was declared the most liberal senator in the United States, Hillary also got the dubious label of not [...]

Who do you trust?

Posted by Moonage on 22 Jan 2008 | Tagged as: Media

I find this kind of ironic:

The study by Sacred Heart University Polling Institute found 45.4 percent of the respondents think journalists and broadcasters are mostly or somewhat liberal. Just 15.7 percent think they are conservative……
And, as far as which outlet is “most trusted?” FOX News led the way with 27 percent, CNN at 14.6 percent; [...]

Kevin Rudd’s big night out

Posted by Moonage on 19 Aug 2007 | Tagged as: Opinions

Kevin Rudd is a very popular politician in Australia.  He has run on conervative Christian values and has done quite well using that platform.  That platform has been quite used in the US for about 25 years or so, but is still fairly unusual in Australia.  So, people in Australia are having quite a time [...]

Immediate expectations from the 2006 elections

Posted by Moonage on 09 Nov 2006 | Tagged as: National Politics

A lot of people are reading things into this week’s elections. Some people claimed these elections are nothing but a national referendum on Bush and/or the Republicans. As such, I posted my “anticipated results” from the elections a few days ago. I’m still sticking with those “predictions” post-election. Now, here’s what [...]

Is Michael Fox acting?

Posted by Moonage on 24 Oct 2006 | Tagged as: National Politics

Was reading a trashy New York gossip rag that was talking about Rush attacking Michael J. Fox for over-acting his Parkinson’s symptoms for political gain.  Well, here is the video in question via Claire McCaskill:

Here’s Fox circa June 2006:

The problem Rush has is just making the allegation is distasteful to just about anyone with [...]
