I have the Social Security issue all figured out ( again ).  It doesn’t require cutting back benefits or raising taxes.  It’s simple too.

Just expand the death penalty to include crimes that result in abuse or death.  That category would include molesters, drug dealers, and “insane” murderers.  Make it a lot simpler to enforce if the evidence is obvious.  Eliminate states’ choice in the matter.  If one state won’t do it, send them to a state that will.  Make it quick.  Make it often.

THEN

Open the doors and let the Mexicans work here all they want.  Just tax them as you would any US citizen.

What you get is a bunch of people who would drain the system are removed while a bunch more people contribute to it that can never use it.

Simple, huh?

PETA sent this letter to the sheriff housing Christopher McCuin.  Chris is the guy who ate his girlfriend last week.  Literally.  Read it, it’s hilarious!

January 10, 2008

Captain Gary Pinkerton, Jail Administrator

Smith County Jail

Dear Captain Pinkerton:

On behalf of PETA and our more than 1.8 million members and supporters, I am writing to ask that you prevent Christopher Lee McCuin from being involved in any senseless killing while in your prison by providing him with exclusively vegetarian meals.

As you know, McCuin allegedly killed his girlfriend, cut up and boiled parts of her body, and may have consumed parts of her corpse. Tragically, every day in homes and restaurants across the U.S., humans cut up, cook, and devour the corpses of chickens, pigs, fish, and cows. Only in a culture where people routinely kill and eat living, feeling beings would anyone even think to kill and eat a human loved one.

Like humans, animals are made of flesh, blood, and bone. They have the same five senses that we do, and they have the same capacity to experience suffering and fear. And all animals share the desire to live their lives free of pain and to avoid a violent death.

It is up to you to prevent McCuin from contributing to any more suffering and death by placing him on a healthy, humane vegetarian diet.

Please visit the Web site GoVeg.com to see video footage that depicts the cruelty of factory farming and to obtain vegetarian recipes. Vegetarian meals are healthy, cost-efficient, and easy to prepare. They also promote nonviolence, which is something that every prison needs. We also would be happy to help you design meatless meal plans for McCuin—or even the entire prison.

Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Bruce Friedrich

Vice President

This guy is serious I think!  I’m clueless here.  My suggestion is rather than feed McCuin meat for the rest of his life, do society and PETA too a favor and just end that life now and save the cows.  Not that I’m a veggie or anything, McCuin just don’t need to be living any more.  That’s just more steak for the rest of us.

House Democrats pushed through a $50 billion Iraq war bill that would require President George W. Bush to start bringing troops home in coming weeks with a goal of ending combat by December 2008.

Now, this is where it gets really silly.  Bush was already bringing troops home.  Confused yet?  Let Nancy clarify it for you:

“The fact is, we can no longer sustain the military deployment in Iraq,” said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. “Staying there in the manner that we are there is no longer an option.”

But Nancy, they’re already coming home?  So why the legislation?  And why stick it in a defense appropriations bill?  And, why guarantee something we do need will be vetoed because it tramples all over the US Constitution?  ( Where IS the outcry? )

Bush will veto this, Harry doesn’t have remotely the votes to over-ride the veto, and we’ll have another waste of taxpayer time and money while the Senate argues over it and tries to figure someway to get their commitments covered.

All because Nancy Pelosi thinks she’s president.

Got me realy curious.  If Hillary does win this thing next fall, will Nancy still think she’s president or will Hillary take her out?

Bottom line, this vote was a political stunt only.  And quite frankly, I think it’s ill-advised on just about every front.  But, that’s only IF the Republicans educate the public on why.  If they don’t, and the media doesn’t care.  Then Nancy gets exactly what she wanted even if this bill goes nowhere.  My odds are on Nancy with that one.

This clip on Memritv to me perfectly illustrates the difference in cultures of “the evil Satan” of the West and “the religion of Peace” of the Middle East:

Saudi Cleric Muhammad Al-’Arifi Explains Wife Beating in Islam to Young Muslims in a Ramadhan Show

That’s just nuts by my standard.  If I could ask Al-Arifi one question, it would just be exactly where “the religion of peace” draws the line.

You know you’re in a bad way when Google’s context sensitive advertising does this:

Google context sensitive advertising

Now, ya just gotta wonder why “Ann Coulter” would even come up in an article that never mentions her.  More politics by Google?  Or, is Ann’s name now so synonomous with “Jew” that Google’s engine just can’t help it?

Honestly, I would not place a bet either way.

Every time I think The View has sunk to the lowest it can possibly get, a new character drags it even lower.  We had the Rosie blaming Bush for 9/11 crap, citing metal doesn’t melt due to fire.  Then we had Whoopi.  Now we’ve got Joy Behar comparing the Republican Presidential candidates to members of the Ku Klux Klan.  She doesn’t offer any shred of logic as to why she blurted that out.

Is shock value truly the only content The View now has to offer?

Most of the normal blogdom has already suggested Robert Byrd drop in and give advice to Behar on what a Klansman truly represents.  So, I won’t have to do go that route.

Just a quickie update.  Mrs. Moon, who is a Democrat, reminds me that Joy is a comedian.  She, nor I, got the joke.  I have noticed for a long time when comedians try to be funny regarding politics, it often falls flat, or worse.

Andrew Meyer being repressed

The University of Florida Police Department is taking some heat for the less than subtle means they used to shut up Andrew Meyer during a John Kerry presentation.  Wearing the over-abused cliche drooping khaki pants and a t-shirt, this guy was obviously no threat to anyone.  The cops didn’t get his prank or thought it was funny, so they tasered him.  More than once actually.  Being obnoxious doesn’t merit tasering.  Sometimes I wish it did, but it doesn’t.  A strong punch to the jaw I think would have shut him up more effectively and would have probably led to a lot less publicity.  Media folks just don’t run around publishing stories with a headline that reads something to the effect of “Student punched in jaw!”.  Proper plan, bad execution.   The upside of all this is it gives me a good reason to watch Monty Python some more:

Now, Arthur had it down perfect. When someone protests too much, just walk away and ignore them.

Congress passed a resolution establishing September 11th as a day of rememberance.  It honors those who died on September 11, 2007.  It also honors those that eventually served in Afghanistan and Iraq.  334 Congressmen voted for it.  1 voted against.  That one, was Dennis Kucinich, candidate for president.  His reasoning is this:

“It is important that Congress wake up to the truth and exercise its obligation under the Constitution to save our nation from being destroyed from the lies that took us into Iraq, the lies that keep us there, the lies that are being used to set the stage for war against Iran and the lies that have undermined our basic civil liberties here at home,” Kucinich said in a statement.

OK, so go figure this one out.  In order to protect us from the lies, he wants us to forget it ever happened.  That makes no sense at all.  However, it falls in line with his rabid anti-war stance he’s always had.  If Congress had honored those who died September 11, 2001 for no reason at all and ignored those who have died since trying to prevent it from happening again ( and it hasn’t, coincedence? ), I’m sure this bill would have passed his muster just fine.  As lonely as it must seem to be the only person in Washington to be so enlightened, it must be equally lonely to have been running a national campaign for a year as an established Washington figure and be running in BARELY single digits.  That seems to be the thing with Progressives.  The fact that practically everyone disagrees with your point of view is completely irrelevant.

Dennis Kucinich is nuts.  The sooner he exits the stage, the better off we’ll be.  It’s one thing to be opposed to something.  It’s completely another to be so paranoid about a topic you’re willing to insult the victims just to make your point.  I really expected nothing from the Kucinich campaign.  I got even less.

Kathy Griffin won an Emmy for making people laugh.  Well some people anyway, I don’t have a clue who she is.  However, she felt compelled to undo that laughter with her acceptance speech:

“A lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this. He had nothing to do with this,” Griffin said. “Suck it, Jesus. This award is my God now.”

Yet another shooting star who feels compelled to use the limelight of their industry’s honoring them to push their own personal political rhetoric.  My guess is she’s going to get a lot of flack over this.  And she should.  This was no place for politics, period.  We reward these people for entertaining us.  If we wanted their politics, they should be running for office.  But they don’t, and they won’t, they don’t have the guts to put their butts on the line where it only really matters.  And, they know that unlike the media driven industry they dwell in, the average person doesn’t have to accept their BS and they would never get elected with opinions like that.  She may get a seat on The View, but she’ll never be in a position to push the rhetoric in any realistic way.  Stupid move, Kathy.  Very, very stupid.

Tiny Muskens, a Dutch Bishop, really thinks if Christians refer to God as Allah, it will solve a lot of problems.

I think he’s a blithering idiot.  Are the Sunni, Shiites, and Kurds fighting only against Christians in Iraq?

Radical Islam is so radical only a certain TYPE of Allah is accepted.  They could care less what Christians call God.  Unless those Christians convert to the exact type of Islam those people want, they are marked for death.

There’s only one way to deal with that.  And, it ain’t appeasing them.
